Frequently asked questions
What does the ticket include?
Entry to the permanent exhibition of the Royal Palace of Gödöllő — including Empress Elisabeth's restored apartments, the ceremonial Grand Hall and the palace state rooms — plus any temporary exhibition running inside the palace on your date. We book it for your chosen day and email it to you.
Is Gödöllő really Empress Sisi's palace?
Yes. After Franz Joseph and Elisabeth were crowned King and Queen of Hungary in 1867, the nation gave them Gödöllő as a coronation gift. Elisabeth loved it above her other homes and returned for months each year to ride and walk in the park; her apartments are a centrepiece of the visit today.
Do I have to choose an entry time?
No. The permanent exhibition is open-admission, so your ticket is valid across opening hours on the date you pick and you arrive whenever suits you. Only the guided tours of the Baroque Theatre and the Horthy Bunker run at fixed times.
What are the opening hours?
The palace is open daily, roughly 10:00 to 18:00, with the ticket office and last admission around 17:00. Hours can be shorter on some public holidays, so we confirm your date when we arrange your ticket.
How long should I allow for a visit?
Plan on about 1.5 to 2 hours for the permanent exhibition and Sisi's apartments. If you want to add a temporary exhibition, a stroll through the park and rose garden, or a guided tour, set aside half a day.
Do children need a ticket?
Children under 6 enter free but must be accompanied by a paying adult. Full-time students qualify for the student ticket with a valid student card at the entrance.
Who qualifies for the student ticket?
The student rate is for full-time students. Bring a valid student card, as it is checked at the palace entrance. The palace does not sell a senior ticket online, so senior visitors book the adult ticket.
Are the Baroque Theatre and Horthy Bunker included?
No. Those are seen on separate guided tours that run at set times, and they are not part of the standard museum ticket. If you would like to add one, tell us your date and we will help you arrange it.
How and when will I get my ticket?
After you book, our team arranges your dated entry and emails your ticket to you ahead of your visit. You show it at the palace on your chosen day. If we are ever unable to arrange your date, we contact you and refund in full.
How do I get to Gödöllő from Budapest?
Take metro line M2 to Örs vezér tere, then the HÉV suburban train (H8) toward Gödöllő and get off at Szabadság tér, right beside the palace — about 45 minutes in total. By car it is roughly 30 to 40 minutes via the M3 and M31.
Can I visit the park and gardens?
Yes. The palace sits in a 26-hectare English landscape park with formal terraces and rose gardens that Elisabeth was especially fond of. Parts of the grounds are freely accessible, and they make a lovely place to walk before or after the interior.
Is photography allowed?
Photography for personal use is generally allowed in most rooms, usually without flash. Some temporary exhibitions may restrict it, so follow the signs and staff guidance inside the palace.
Is the palace accessible for visitors with reduced mobility?
The palace has made accessibility provisions, but it is a historic Baroque building with some stairs and older spaces. If you have specific access needs, tell us when you book and we will share the current guidance and help you plan.
Can I combine Gödöllő with sightseeing in Budapest?
Easily. Gödöllő is a classic half-day or day trip from the capital, reached in about 45 minutes on the HÉV train. Many visitors pair a morning at the palace with an afternoon back in Budapest; tell us your plans and we can help you sequence the day.
What if my date can't be secured?
If we are ever unable to arrange your chosen date, we contact you to find an alternative or refund you in full. All sales are otherwise final, in line with the palace's own conditions.
Are the tickets refundable?
Because we secure a dated admission for a specific day, all sales are final. We can only refund if the entry cannot be honoured because of a failure on the operator's side, not for a change of travel plans.
Do you sell official or discounted local tickets?
No. We are an independent concierge service and the prices shown are what we charge to arrange and secure your ticket. We are not the palace box office and we do not publish anyone else's counter prices.
Which languages can I get help in?
Our concierge team assists in your language, before and during your trip, right up to your visit day. Your ticket and instructions arrive in clear English so nothing is lost in translation at the gate.
